A friend of mine keeps getting hangovers.

You know who I am referring to.
Yes, you!
So read this entry before you hit the club.
Have a hearty meal before drinking.
Go for fatty and protein-rich foods.
Don't pretend to be health conscious at this point. If you are, then don't drink!
Fatty and protein-rich foods take a longer time to digest.
Hence it will mix with the alcohol in your stomach, diluting the alcohol and giving your body more time to break down the alcohol.
You should also try to snack throughout the night for the same purpose.
If prevention fails then take these corrective measures.
Take raw eggs! Eggs contain an amino acid called cysteine and cysteine helps to counter the effects of acetaldehyde which causes hangovers.
Or take some bread or crackers. Bread and crackers help to raise the blood sugar levels and calm upset stomach.
You can also try eating bananas. Bananas can help to calm stomach irritation.
Or try ginger. It works just as well as bananas.
And don't forget to sleep more and drink more water or sport drinks.
Last but not least, DON'T DRINK EXCESSIVELY!

Day 4

Today is her last day in Taipei.
How time flies!
I cannot wait to be whole again!
Anyway the taiwanese skies is mostly cloudy today.
The temperature is around 29°C.
Truly a nice weather to roam out into the fringes.
And one of the interesting places in the suburbs is Bei Tou.

At Bei Tou you can have a taste of how meat balls feel immersed in hot soup, when you plunge into the hot springs.
And on top of that you can also learn about hot springs at the Bei Tou Hot Spring Museum.

Another interesting place at the boarder is Dan Shui.
Not only do they have the Dan Shui River, a popular spot among the tourists.They also have this heavenly taiwanese snack that only veteran like me would know. (I think MA doesn't)
I do not know what they call that in Taiwanese.
It is vermicelli wrapped in Tofu skin.
And it goes particularly well with the sauce they self concocted. Personally this snack is second to opium.

Day 3

The weather in Taipei is fair. The temperature is around 28°C.

And today you are meeting CT!!!!!

I propose you guys go on a secret rendezvous on Yang Ming Shan, the all time favorite dating site for taiwanese lovers.

Bring a picnic basket for two.

Just imagine, you and CT eating under one of these pavillions. So green with envy!

Don't fret if you don't have one.

You can still dabao yummy and inexpensive food along the way.

(Note: You cannot find dabao on Wikipedia. It means takeaway)

At night, go to Eslite bookstore at Xin Yi District.

You can find a great variety of Chinese and English books.

And it is 24hrs!

Who knows, you may even bump into stardom in the book pile.

Life as a War Correspondent

Now for Day 2.
The weather in Taipei today is mostly sunny.
The temperature ranges from 26°C to 31°C.
Definitely a good day to visit the temple.
Try visiting Lung Shan Temple.
Lung Shan meaning "Dragon Mountain" , is a celebrated religious ground.
It is called "the meeting place of the gods".
So one stopover at the temple is as good as visiting multiple gods.
In the afternoon, hang around Taipei 101.
The view from the obsevatory deck will certainly sweep you off your feet.
And you can find your favorite starbucks latte there.
At night, you must visit the Shi Lin Night Market.
It has a great variety of delicious and inexpensive food.

Day 1

A part of me took off to Taipei on SQ876 this morning.
And no way I was going to let her embark on this journey of star purusal alone.
I decided to give chase with my blog.
Sounds haunting isn't it? But it is really just giving her some information and directions in Taipei.
The average temperature in Taipei today is 33 degrees.
It is no wonder she complained of the heat.
She loves shopping.
So I would sugest that she goes to Wu Fen Pu.
She will definitely like it there.
Wu Fen Pu is located opposite Song Shan train station in Xin Yi District.
It is one of the largest clothing markets in Taipei.
As for food I would recommend Mao Yuan on Chang An E Rd.
Mao Yuan serves affordable Taiwanese delicacies. Nothing fanciful, just pure good food.
Some of the must-order dishes are Braised Cabbage, White Salted Chicken, Smoked Cod Fish, Stir-fried Oysters, Pumpkin Stir-fried Rice Noodles, Squid Balls, Shrimp Rolls, and Taiwanese Black Pork Sausages. Goodness I am salivating!
At night, I suggest she stays indoor. This is because I am staying indoor as well =P

Why Are We Blogging

Recently I had the luxury of idling at home. You don't have to be envious. This is because prolonged idling is Boring!
But I wasn't a total loafer. I kept myself busy with reading people's blogs and watching youtube. That was my way of self improvement.
And I did read some superb entries. And one of them was pertaining the saga between XX and Steven Lim.
The whole saga blew me away. But it also caused me to ponder over this question.
WTH are we blogging?
Now let me tell you why I am blogging.
Firstly, blogging is beyond doubt fun. I really don't know why I used to dread handing in my journal. Perhaps at that time I was forced to write. Can you imagine, writing 7 entries in a matter of a night? That was what happened. But now I am writing out of my free will with no deadline.
Secondly it is a good platform to voice and to vent. People out there, you should try blogging, it is really theraputic.
Thirdly I want to keep a complete record of a personal journey. You don't have to ask what is that, cos I am not telling.
Last but not least I am an aspired writer and blog is a good practice ground.

Rapunzel's Escape

She cut off her beautiful plaits and fastened the plaits on to a hook in the window.
Then she climbed down the tower by the golden staircase.
As soon as she hit the foot of the tower, she met her black knight who took her away in a black honda steed.
When they gotten to safety, they stopped for their cuppa and porridge.
And before they head back to the castle where they live happily ever after,

Good Companions

For the past two weeks I led a humdrum existence.
Besides my usual rituals, I did nothing else!
TL, MA, CT and JQ were the only people I kept in touch.
My four other good companions were my two pandora's boxes, my portable judebox and my psp.
My two pandora's boxes were none other than my lappie and my cablevision cable box.
They were the only medium that kept me connected and reminded me that I did not cease to be a part of this world
My portable judebox which was my ipod and my psp were kind of a disappointment.
Cos I got no new songs and games!
And idea where to download nice songs and new psp games?

Machap

Yesterday I arrived at the Machap.
If you do drive up to West Malaysia, you will be familiar with what Machaps are.
They are actually small eateries along the Highway where travelers stop for a break. Now back to my experience at the Machap.
The people at the Machap were very nice.
They did a great job calming my nerve after a tedious journey.
My only complaint was that the food was kinda of bland, and they charged me cher prices!
Leaving the Machap behind, I now carry on with my journey.

On my holy pilgrimage, I was conversing with a fellow pilgrim.
Our holy tête-à-tête brought us to this topic on opened and closed doors.
And it fascinates me how Providence actually orchestrates our decisions by opening and closing doors.
With opened doors, we know that it is more or less a a green light.
And with closed doors, we can somewhat conclude that it is a stop sign.
No doubt, there are other important markers to decision making.
Yet this fundamental and essential test of opened and closed doors stands.

"Tiao hir" is actually Chinese tea.
And "Clementi" is Lemon tea
While "Tart giu" is Milo
And "Siu dai" is less sugar
Last but not least "Kar dai" is more sugar

And I still dunno what is the kopitiams' jargon for Horlicks! Argghh
Someone said it is ho hO HO. But I cannot buy that. Cos I cannot imagine the uncle or auntie goin 1 ho hO HO(in ascending pitch)

P.S. Someone just told me Red bull is "Ang gu"

Entering Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Yesterday I took my entry exam.
As they ushered me into the magnificant hall, I was greeted by the in house vampires, who took my blood with their fangs. I heard them whispered, saying that it was to ensure that i am not a muggle.
Thereafter they put me on the lie detector. I supposed it was for the same purpose.
Then the people from the Ministry of Magic asked me a series of questions. Such as can I run a kilometre? Can I climb the overhead bridge without panting? Weird wasn't it, I thought we fly on broomsticks, or carpets? Mind you, I am saving for my Nimbus 2008.
Lastly they brought me to see the slumberland fairy who briefed me on the entire entry procedure.
Goosh this entry exam is no easy feat.

Yesterday I stood before the white coated judge.
As he read the verdict, he could not help but to notice my calmness.
He asked, "You have any question regarding your sentence? You seem particularly calm."
With a smile I replied, "It must be my religion."
That night I was sleepless.
I was thinking, is it really because of the strength I find in my religion, or is it because things cannot be any worse?
In any case I have accepted my lot.

The Calafare-less Video

One fateful Saturday night, TL sprung an attack on me with her tear gas grenade when she presented me the Calafare-less video.
The video is a 3 minutes animated record of our 12 years of friendship.
It features none other then myself and TL
And TL painstaking integrated all our photos, my favorite songs, my voice recording, my handwriting and all her favorite quotes.
It is marvelous! Thank you TL! I love the video!

I alway hear people talking about how ugly singaporeans are.
I truly experienced that uglyness today!
Boarding the bus after a tiring day at work, I was expecting a seat on my flight to slumberland.
And there he was, Mister Ugly Singapore. He paid the price for one but occupied the seats for two. One for his ugly buttocks and the other for his tattered bag.
But because I was worn out, I can't be bothered with him. I simply gave him a killer stare and moved to the rear.
Shortly after, an ah pey, probably in his 70s, walked down the aisle.
He stood right in front of him trying to balance himself and wagging his white plastic bag.
And alla Mister Ugly Singapore was indifferent to the dancing ah pey!
He simply exchanged a few glances with him.
Finally he uttered those ugly words in what des called bad enguish
Solli 我的bag很重.
Wat theeeeee #&!^%&!^
To conclude I walked over, and ushered the ah pey to my pathetic seat at the rear and gave Mister Ugly Singapore the loudest ziek (a sound i make when i am frustrated) ever.
